Achieving reliability for back-up liquid fuel systems has become an increasingly important criteria for many gas turbine facilities in both domestic and international settings. Whether driven by the need to maximize revenue or ensure adequate capacity, turbine owners all seek solutions which, along with reliability, are cost effective.
JASC's latest system configurations and products are significantly decreasing the cost of ownership. Specifically, gas turbine owners no longer have to operate on liquid fuel at weekly, monthly or quarterly intervals in order to maintain liquid fuel system integrity. A recent beta test demonstrated that two 7F turbines outfitted with JASC's latest designs were able to run on liquid fuel, without issue, after having operated exclusively on natural gas for intervals of 6 to 9 months.
Being able to operate on liquid fuel when it is needed rather than to just to test system readiness is now the new reality for turbine owners. Incorporation of fuel supply piping changes, the addition of heat sink clamps to limit temperature of stagnant fuel during gas runs, elimination of o-rings and use of water cooled fuel controls provide customers with systems which are capable of providing reliable operation while minimizing fuel costs associated with testing.

providing the ability to operate 32,000 hours before refurbishment is
required, JASC designs continue to raise the performance bar for liquid
fuel, purge air and water injection systems in gas turbine applications.
Gas turbine engine owners can experience fuel transfer success rates of
98% or greater when employing water-cooled valve technology. JASC's
water-cooled liquid fuel check valve has shown that gas turbine owners
can operate liquid fuel systems reliably for extended periods of time.
This is due to a water-cooled jacket that helps maintain check valve
internal temperatures well below the coking threshold. Additionally,
through the prevention of coke formation, valves are able to maintain
their ANSI Class 6 seal, which prevents both liquid fuel system
evacuation and fuel leakage into fuel nozzles.

Over time, there may not be another auxiliary system more maligned than
that of a back-up liquid fuel system on a dual fuel gas turbine. The
hardware shortcomings responsible for the inability to start on liquid
fuel or transfer from gas to liquid fuel, check valve failures, flow
divider failures, fuel system evacuation, exhaust temperature spreads and
related turbine trips have all been addressed by designs developed by
JASC Controls. Water-cooled check valves, which prevent carbonization,
metal-to-metal sealed water injection check valves rated for service at
750 degrees "F", multiple use crush gasket technology which
replace o-rings with a 750 degrees "F" rating at 2000 psi and a
Zero Emissions Equipment design which allows a turbine owner to test the
readiness of the liquid fuel system without firing on oil are examples of
the JASC's unique technology.
JASC has developed the Zero Emission Equipment (ZEE) Performance Test
system for back-up liquid fuel systems in dual fuel turbine applications.
This system will allow the gas turbine owner to operate the back-up
liquid fuel system through the entire operational range of fuel flows,
light-off to full speed full load without burning fuel in the nozzles.
