CCE Engineering provides proven plant performance enhancing
modifications for owners of Mitsubishi or Siemens 501 / 701 Combined
Cycle Power Plants (CCPP). The enhancements improve heat rate, power
output, start reliability and/or flexibility of gas turbine CCPP, with
no change to the gas turbine engine.
Below is a brief overview of some of our products and services:
Turbine Air Cooler Modification
CCE's Turbine Air Cooler (also referred to as Rotor Air Cooler) and gas
heating process can enhance the thermal performance, operability and
maintainability of 501 or 701 frame CCPP, delivering a significant heat
rate reduction of up to 1.7%. The main hardware for this enhancement is
delivered in skid mounted packages designed to suit the site and
application requirements. The new equipment is a direct replacement for
the existing cooling technology and is delivered in skid form to
minimise site integration works ensuring installation can be completed
during routine maintenance periods.
Optimal Part Load Control and Ancillary Services
CCE provides a proven efficiency enhancement which results in
significant benefits for part load operations through optimal control of
heat recovery steam generator gas inlet temperature and steam turbine
inlet steam conditions. In some cases, internal process set point
scheduling at part load and modified HRSG and balance of plant control
strategies also improve efficiency and stability. CCE also has the
extensive plant operating experience required to deliver process
controls for grid frequency sensitive operations, ancillary services
compliance testing and controls modifications.
Reliable Start / Stop Operations
CCE has various proven changes to your CCPP to support daily stop /
start operations including; changes to purge and start device sequences;
automated ignition fuel flow testing; flame detector removal and
synchronizer upgrades. In one case, the start reliability improved from
55 % due to poor start sequencing and trip diagnosis, to 95 % with no
control related start aborts and timely diagnosis of all unit trips.
Performance Management Support Services
CCE can undertake plant performance assessments through thermal
efficiency studies to identify improvement opportunities. The
assessment can take the form of a simple heat balance, capacity /
economic calculations or an in depth assessment of plant process
configuration including a systematic review of operating modes /
patterns and detailed plant performance benchmarking. Previous studies
have identified up to 4% efficiency improvements for CCPP owners.
Commercial and business assessment
CCE will work with clients to ensure modifications fit with their
business needs through identification of high value improvement
opportunities and new optimisation strategies; preparation of business
case presentations and reporting of progress and confirmation of post
